Success Story

  • WFC was founded in 2009 by two partners - Besarion Abuladze and Karlo Goginava, both having banking backgrounds and the business ties with various IFIs and corporate businesses operating in Georgia.
  • Later in 2010, two professionals Mikheil Basiladze and Taras Kvaratskhelia joined the initial founders of the company - both of them having extensive experience of operating in business sector of the Country.
  • In 2010 the company staff was comprised of 6 people including two managing partners, two senior managers and two research assistants. WFC team collectively is fluent in 5 languages.
  • In 2010 WFC became a member of the Enterprise Development Network (EDN), established by OPIC as a PPP Initiative and has been approved as an EDN Loan and PRI Originator.
  • In May, 2014 WFC established its first branch office in Capital City of Azerbaijan – Baku. In early 2015, WFC established another International branch office in Kiev, Ukraine. Both offices offer full scale financial advisory and fundraising services to Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Companies.
  • The Loan Originated by WFC is the first ever OPIC investment in energy sector in Georgia.
  • The Loan of USD 58 million Originated by WFC is the largest single investment made by OPIC in Georgia so far.
  • The Loan of USD 58 million Originated by WFC is the largest single investment into renewable energy sector of Georgia since its independence.
